The 8 weeks mini training

The week after the countdown

It was a good week for me on and off the bike, although my legs are sore as! I did all indoor training three days in a row each day for 35kms, the last day was a struggle big time. So i flipped the bike roller around to the easy side, still worked hard but the load was a little bit less stressful on the quads. I also started the 5-week challenge with paramount HFC to keep me accountable at a time like this, we all need a bit of motivation at this time.

During the week I got a phone call from my film mate we had a bit of a chat to work out the pitch and left it at that. But I felt a bit helpless with doing the actual planning. The number of youtube clips I’ve watched and still got no idea what to write and film. But hopefully, the google doc that i created that we can all collaborate on will point me in the right direction. Saying that the time is ticking so I am a little bit stressed…. Don’t worry everything pans out, stay positive, is the attitude I need to take!

Yesterday I did a bit of filming in regards to my 8-week challenge that I’ve set for my self before I go back to university for my last two units of my degree, this has been a long long journey so it’ll be good to get it over and done with!

So looking ahead, on the bike I’m going to be concentrating on the hills/elevation this week…. The weather is not looking pretty either so it’s going to be FUN! Nah not at all, it’s going to be grueling… two hours then one and a half hours, back to back days, respectively. Then two classes fitted into there as also somewhere, I think ill do a Moga session for sure, work on my mobility, it is needed! And then on Friday ill need to do a 3-hour session again in the hills. The way I structure my program I go week by week, it works best for me.

Filming wise and things I need to do will be,

Social inclusion series introduction, getting the ball rolling on that. It will take a few hours because it’s me and filming, we don’t go well together! Look out for it though, stay tuned on that!

And then by the end of the week, I hope to have nutted out the pitch and be ready to film the following week, that’s my goal!

Lastly, my feelings towards me writing, I feel I’m getting better and better…. Just you wait i’ll be an author in no time! HAHAHA

Finalising the route

It all begins with an idea.

It’s taken quite a few goes to get the right route. The main reason is navigating through the city’s, ideally, I wouldn’t like to be riding through Sydney or Brisbane but unfortunately, I can’t see it being avoided. Because I want to hit home-runs and really drive the points I want to get across like ‘Stroke matters’ and the research for that, to do this I need as much publicity as possible, Where’s the main publicity, big city life! It can’t be helped… I’ve got one option of going to just outside of Sydney, ‘park my trike’, then go in and do all the media ect but that’s an IF. I think that’ll be a cross that bridge when we get to it type of thing. At least we will test drive the ride through Melbourne when we arrive from Ballarat and have to keep traveling down to Wilson’s Prom, there is no way of avoiding that one.

Hopefully I’ll be with the wind!

Hopefully I’ll be with the wind!

The starting place is Steep Point which will be a fun ride out of that beautiful area, apart from the sand, gravel, corrugation ride, I reckon all those pluses in that equation will equal punctures, no doubt!

What I’m planning and hoping for us to be up at Sydney just before Christmas but things will have changes, I have no doubt about that. There’s only so much you can control, I’m just going to roll with it.

The countdown begins

Over the last week, I’ve felt motivated and felt good! From on the rides to off the rides!

In other words, my mind had been strong, cement. Anything you are doing for a long time is a mental game. On the tires I’ve been progressively getting more kilometers under my belt but also adding in 450m of elevation in total, that’s the reason my legs have been so sore!

We are exactly a year out know, 365 days, we are leaving on my 28th birthday, everything is starting to take shape including a few birthday wishes and first full-on blog that I’ve done!

The release of the countdown has begun, it’s really sinking in, becoming a reality!

The hardest part is keeping on the social media platforms but I’ll have to learn so that’s all the complaint you’ll hear from me!

So looking at the week ahead, on the track ill be riding four consecutive days on the roller, as Melbourne weather is looking poor for the week... So 35km each day on the hard resistance side, I think each day will take two and a half to 3 hours for each day, but whoever knows it might take just 2 hours….. Yer stop dreaming Tommy, you’re in it for the long haul!

Off the rollers, I’m going to be talking about social inclusion and the effect it had on me or introducing the topic of it and then going into depth, it’s a bit tricky because its such a large topic!

Also will be doing the usual planning of what needed/essential equipment ect..

All I can say is going to be a busy and sore week!
