Ballarat cycling classic, Post-ride
I was quite happily surprised with yesterday's performance. Even though I only managed 12.6kms per hour (50km’s) and 13km’s per hour was the benchmark I'd set. From a mind, body and everything in between perspective, it was a fairly easy ride maybe because of the tailwind up some hills. I felt that if I had REALLY tried I could have got about a whole km more…. I will never really know apart perhaps from when we come back through Ballarat on the big big trip. That's a while off though and maybe as well by then, I will also have boulder legs, HOPEFULLY!!
All in all, it was a fun day, had a lot of people urging me on, might have been 'coz I was the only recumbent rider there but also it was for a great cause! Followed by a good debrief at the Western Hotel.
So what's the training plan change?
I'm going to only train on hills, progressively but fewer hours on the actual bike. My goals will be the same 80kms three days in a row, however, that'll be done (the final conclusion of real training) in late June, early July. The main reasons are the time pressures, between riding, gym and doing things I need to do…. Already it’s getting a little bit busy, and with the time the meetings go (start, finish), it’s just hard to juggle!
Anyway, until we meet again my good friend, laptop keyboard ….
